THERAB MEDICAL SECURES FOLLOW-ON INVESTMENT FROM MICHIGAN RISE

East Lansing, MI – TheraB Medical, a Michigan-based company dedicated to improving global health, has secured a follow-on investment from Michigan Rise Pre-Seed Fund III. The medical device company developed its first product, SnugLit, a wearable and portable solution designed to help infants with neonatal jaundice. TheraB Medical received initial funding from Michigan Rise in the spring of 2021.

“It’s been nice to see the recent raise and the strategic investors being added in support of TheraB,” said Jeff Wesley, Executive Director at Michigan Rise. “We believe their experienced, network of support will be valuable as the company moves closer to launch.”

Neonatal jaundice is a common condition that affects 60 percent of all babies. Currently, hospital maternity wards rely on outdated light therapy systems to treat infants with jaundice. These methods require constant monitoring by nursing staff, necessitate the use of multiple therapy units simultaneously, and lead to prolonged separation of mother and child, causing stress and breastfeeding difficulties.

The investment from Michigan Rise will help TheraB develop treatments that ensure infants can be comforted in their mothers’ arms while receiving effective care for neonatal jaundice.
